I work between moving and still images.

I make photographs, 16mm films, digital videos, drawings, paintings and installations..

My ideas flow from medium to medium and with each I take apart and reassemble a picture.

I ask fundamental questions about how a picture works and how we see with our eyes and mind.

  • When does the urge to recognize and name things overshadow the unnamable emotion of a mark?

  • How does photography imitate the lines and shapes of drawing?

  • Do we consider an image of a photograph or video more real than one made by pencil or brush?

  • What do time and motion add to a picture?

  • Can photography be abstract or does it always insist on the identity of object, place and time?
